Home Hydroponic Gardening

Hydroponic is a term derived from Latin words Hydro and Geoponics. Hydro means water and Geoponic means study of agriculture. Thus hydroponics is a method of growing plants in water and nutrients instead of soil. The gardeners over the world now prefer Hydroponic gardening over conventional gardening, because of low water supply requirements and no need of fertile farm land. Home Hydroponic gardening is an excellent choice for interested gardeners because Hydroponic gardening does not require large space area as conventional plants. Home gardeners thus can enjoy gardening in an apartment or balcony. Gardening without soil offers large advantages to the home gardeners. Since land is not used for cultivation there are no weeds to be removed. Also the pests that are generated in the soil are minimized to a large extent if not totally eliminated. The Home gardener can grow fruits, vegetables, etc at his own place. If they are grown appropriately by providing proper amount of nutrients the home gardeners can enjoy the nutrient rich, Healthy and fresh fruits and vegetables. Further in Hydroponic Gardening automation is possible by use of timers. Automation can actually reduce the time it takes to maintain the overall growth requirements of the plants. Thus even if a home gardener needs to go out of house for some days, he don't have to worry about watering the plants. Automaton can help him to set the feeding cycle.

At the same time in case of Indoor home gardening the light requirement for the plant should be considered. The indoor Hydroponic plant must be exposed to adequate light source and also to a good air circulation. Air circulation around the leaves of the indoor Hydroponic plants is important since it mixes air and at the same time allows the plant to draw out carbon dioxide necessary to carry photosynthesis. For light requirement if not natural there are metal halide lamps, Incandescent lamps, Sodium vapor lamps, gro- lights in addition with Incandescent light bulbs can provide adequate light for the plants. Indoor Hydroponic gardening kit also consists of a small fan to circlet the surrounding air.

The most important thing is the nutrient solution preparation. Appropriate amount of all the nutrients should be checked before applying. Also the pH level of the solution should be checked. The pH should be between 5 and 6. on the basis of the stage of development some nutrients are utilized more some are utilized less. The depletion of nutrients should be identified and added to the solution accordingly. Thus Home Hydroponic gardening is more advantageous over conventional because of low space utilization. The only thing is that some specific points are to studied and implemented.
