Hydroponic Gardening Advice

Hydroponic is a word derived from Latin words Hydro and Geoponics. Hydro means water and Geoponic means study of agriculture. Thus Hydroponic gardening is a technique in which the plants are grown by the help of nutrient solution in water instead of soil. The population is growing day by day thus the amount of earth is shrinking day by day. By using the Hydroponic method of growing more plants can be raised in a small place as compared to conventional gardening. There are several guidelines and books available in market. A new gardener can get help through these for efficient gardening.

The first advice is that the first project must be a smaller one so that you can make it attractive. To start with a small project can make one master in the basics of Hydroponic gardening. The basics such as the water and nutrient requirements, pest control, garden design, the life cycle of a particular Hydroponic plant can be best understood. Secondly, the nutrient containing solution should be kept at a height greater than that of the plant so that the nutrient solution can flow on the roots of the plants under gravity. This can help in smooth flow of nutrients on the plant roots. Also the excess of the nutrient flow can be collected in the reservoir at the bottom. Depending on the type of the Hydroponic plant one has to decide which Hydroponic system to use for feeding the plants. There are four types of Hydroponic systems namely water culture, Aggregate culture, Continues flow Hydroponic system and Aeroponics. Depending on the plant type the suitable system should be undertaken. Hydroponic gardening is done on commercial basis and at personal level just as a hobby. Further for new users both commercial as well as Hobbyist there are ready made kits available for feeding the Hydroponic plants. During the growth of the plant the level of oxygen should be monitored continuously because if the level of oxygen goes below the optimum level the plant can immediately die. People who lack building skills or those who have no previous experience in gardening are usually advised to use the kits as an introduction to Hydroponic gardening.  Since Hydroponic gardening is a costly affair, if one has to start with such a new project one should have a clear knowledge of Hydroponic gardening.
