Vegetable Seeding in UK (2)



This article provides information about seeding methods. Numbers of methods are used to sow vegetable seeds. Well preparation of the soil is the first requirements of the every seeding method. prepare soil and use following tips for growing vegetables.

Hardening Off:

This is one of the seeding methods, used especially for indoor gardening. Indoor seed trays should be hard before transplanting plants permanently outdoors. It is simple method. Just, place them in a sheltered position during the day.  But keep in mind that the outside temperature should not be so less that the seed will not grow healthily.
 
During seeding time or plant emmerging, more temperature is required that that will require after the transplantation. Then keep the containers indoors during nighttime. In most of the western countries, especially, the sun may not provide enough temperature in winter season. Therefore you have to follow this activity for few weeks. You can also use artificial lighting system in the indoor gardening system if there is no enough sunlight. Without proper temperature plant may not emerged from the seed. Once plants grown well move them outdoors permanently until you may not get threat of frost. Use the process according to your conveniences. You can short or increase the process as the requirement.

Container Growing Method:

Sometimes containers or pots can be used for growing certain vegetables like carrots, radish, and tomatoes. It is very useful for root crops like carrots, herbs, and large plants like cabbage. Small size pots or containers like 6-inch diameter size pots and 3-inch diameter containers can be very good to grow small plants. You can sow seed in the containers like radish, spring onions, baby carrots, and salad leaves.
                 
Most of the time plastic containers are used. It is because their weight is light and long time useable. They are available in many shapes and sizes. Soil containers, comparatively, are heavy and their durability is shorter. The medium size like 8-inch deep troughs are admirable to grow any vegetable. Grwobags are good for trailing plants like couragets, squash, tomatoes, and cucumber. You will also get growbag supporters for supporting some plants.

Use soil mix compost in the containers. And provide proper light. If there is no proper light use artificial light system. Containers should have drainage holes in the bottom so that they soil or compost may not be so wet like mud. It will create insect and diseases. Water should be leakage out through the hole.
