Light and Moisture Consideration During Plant Propagation


If you want to develop the plants properly, optimum light is essential. Optimum light plays an important role in the development of plants. If the light intensity levels are not in the desired range this may adversely affect the rate of development of plant. If the propagator wants he can change the light intensity levels. The propagator can also modify to enhance the growth and development of liner. Day length affects the growth of plants. Such plants are called photoperiodic plants. Photoperiodic plants respond to day length. Such plants grow faster if daylength is longer. This is possible and is attained by extending light period to 16 hours everyday. You can also interrupt dark period. The dark period can be interrupted with 1 hour of light during midnight. For day length extension,
relative low intensity light is required

Proper light intensity varies with the type of plant. Some plants grow properly at lower light intensity levels. For optimum photosynthesis some plants require full sun. If the light intensity is inadequate, then plants develop with weak stems, especially the leggy plants. Such plants are sparsely foliated. If the light is excessive, it will stress the plant.

Due to this the plant may not develop properly. Such plants are short, stubby and weak.
These plants have yellowish or light green foliage. It is very much essential to increase photosynthesis during the propagation of plants as products of photosynthesis encourage the development and growth of plants. Depending on ventilation capabilities and the surrounding temperature, the light intensity level may vary between optimal light for photosynthesis to reduction of heat on the structure

Relative humidity or quantity of moisture in air also affects the growth of plants.
The best way to maintain moisture content on leaf surface is by using intermittent fog and mist systems. These systems are controlled by time clocks. The plants have intervals of fog for the required plants. Other kinds of controllers sense various aspects of environment and give moisture accordingly. By using the humid chamber technique, relative high humidity can also be easily provided near leaf surfaces.
