Floor Covering: options and choices

Floor coverings are used essentially in all the parts of the house, on the base concrete, or sometimes on tiles too, if the surface is too cold. There are heaps of options in the market, regarding what sort of floor covering to use, incase you are planning to build or renovate your house. It is important to choose the right kind of floor covering because it can help in completely changing the look of your house, make it brighter and more appealing. Regardless of what material you choose, you must make sure that the material is durable and of excellent quality if you want it to work out cheaper in the long run. Do not go for cheaper ones that will quickly succumb to ware and tare. Following are some of the floor covering materials and options that you can find in the market these days.

Floor covering choices

There are many options for floor coverings in the market. You can choose from among these, according to your budget and taste. Following is the list of floor covering materials:
1) Tiles: They are a very convenient choice and come in different varieties, prices, colors and materials (Ceramic, marble, granitite). They are non-slip, hard and water and heat resistant.
2) Carpets: They come in a variety of designs, and sizes. They can be simple cotton carpets, or thick heavily embroidered Persian rugs, which are very popular, or other factory manufactured ones.
3) Timber: It can be laid on concrete, and is hard, thus takes a long time to ware. The disadvantage is that you will have to polish it from time to time.
4) Painting: It is very cheap and suitable for hardwearing floors.
5) Natural flooring: This can be done with the sisal plant or coir, which is made of coconut husks or jute, which is a very popular option these days.
Apart from these there are also many other type of floorings that are available in the market. From laminates to cork floors to recycled flooring options like linoleum, recycled carpeting, water based adhesives etc. You can choose one from any of these options, but make sure they are suitable to the environmental conditions that you are living in.
