Carpet Installation

Learning About It

Are you aware that carpet installation is the single biggest problem associated with new carpet purchases? Quiet often the installation goes bad and makes the entire purchase look sour. Carpet installation should be carefully researched for making sure that the carpet installer uses the set carpet installation standards. The problem is that many installers have never read the set standards, which are in existence for around 20 years. What one should do is to obtain a copy of this carpet installation standard and be present during the carpet installation. Like this, one is in a position to question the installer, showing him/her that you have a copy of the standard and check for deviations from the standard.  If every carpet installation were to be performed according to the standard, the number of botched carpet installations would be much less and the purchase process would go on flawlessly.

Carpet Installation – Things That Need To Be Done!

As you already know, a quality carpet installation is critical for the performance of your carpet. Thus you must see to it that the following things are one

See to it that a carpet with visible defect is not installed. If you fail to check and if the carpet installation is performed, you will have to pay the installer for his services. If the carpet must be replaced, then you will have to pay for a second time.

When it comes to the carpet installation, see that a power stretcher is used to stretch the carpet to prevent wrinkling and buckling. All carpets will stretch 1-2% after it they have been exposed to foot traffic. If you insure a power stretcher is used, this will prevent the necessity to pay for re-stretching the carpet, a year after the installation. Also keep in mind that a power stretcher is not the same as a knee kicker. A knee kicker is used to position or to move the carpet and not used for stretching.

Also, a new, thicker carpet may prevent the doors from swinging clear and free. Thus, the installer must remove the doors and re-hang them. Also, if the doors do not clear, you should arrange to have them trimmed.
