Something about tools
Kicker- is one of the traditional one in order to stretch the carpet. It needs experienced hands to do work with kicker. It is a tool with adjustable prongs on one end to grip the carpet and a padded end to kick against.
Power stretcher- is a heavy jack made for carpet works. It is an expensive one. It is adjusted from about three feet to 28' more or less and is designed with a toothed end that digs into the carpet and a padded end that is braced against the wall. They are not hard to use but one has to beware for the simple reason that it can stretch the carpet to such an extent to tear apart seams or punch through wallboard if the end is not braced against the end. It is also very heavy
Seam Iron and Seam Tape- is the one that is used to make seams. Seam tape is a paper with a nylon mesh for strength that has been coated with hot melt glue. It is again placed glue side up under the carpet and the hot iron sits on the glue. The carpet only touch the top of the iron as the temperature required for glue to melt can melt the carpet also.
There has to be sufficient skill to do the work related to the carpet as a little mistake can spoil the whole carpet.
